Literature & The Landscape of the Horse

Page and Sheri have been hosting this retreat at the Vee Bar Guest Ranch since 2008. This retreat provides guests with extraordinary opportunities and information from two very professional people in their respective industries!

More Special Weeks:  3-Night Vacation  |  Ranch Jubilee  |  Adults Only  |  Writing Retreat

For 6 days, we will write about, read about, and be about horses!

Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden a mile, or written a word. All you need to bring to Wyoming is a willingness to open your creative heart to the landscape of the horse.
~Page Lambert

A horse is an instinctive animal. Humans, too, are instinctive creatures. Our natural environment is not between four walls. Horses teach us about living in the present moment. They remind us to be engaged with the world. They understand fear. They understand courage. They “think” with their entire beings. We’ll get to know our horses from the ground. We’ll get to know our horses from their backs. We’ll ride in small groups formed by our various comfort levels. We’ll ride among cows and newborn calves in mountain meadows. We’ll ride together across open grasslands and on forested mountain trails. We’ll share our favorite horse stories and explore the creative heart of writing.

Page Lambert, Colorado author, and Sheri Griffith, adventurer and co-founder of the Moab Endurance Ride, team up to provide guests with a unique and engaging riding and writing experience. Page and Sheri have been hosting this retreat at the Vee Bar Guest Ranch since 2008. This retreat provides guests with extraordinary opportunities and information from two very professional people in their respective industries!

Reviews of Our Writing Retreat

"Sad To Leave..."

I recently traveled to the VeeBar to take part in a riding and writing week-long retreat with about 15 other folks, mostly unknown to one another at the outset. Everything about the ranch combined to turn strangers into friends that I was sad to leave at the end of our week. Brent and Kari Kilmer, their terrific wranglers, cooks, and other ranch helpers made us feel welcome every step of the way and provided us with so many unique opportunities as well as with the consistency of our own horse for the week. The food was amazing, the accommodations very comfortable and homey with a river running right outside the cabin.

"The Perfect Ranch Getaway..."

This was my 3rd year at the Vee Bar with a group for riding & writing. From the beautiful setting to the great wranglers to the excellent food to the always-smiling hosts, this is the perfect ranch getaway. The rides and horses are terrific, with my highlight being the ride up to the mountaintop through the woods. What a view! WY has a special place in my East Coast heart … it’s the highlight of my year & I can’t wait to return. Each day held many memorable moments & WY splendor. The best-run place I’ve ever encountered in my many years of travel. Don’t hesitate… get out there now!

"A Must Visit..."

Wow! We had a fabulous time at the Vee Bar Ranch. I am sitting here writing this review while my husband is signing us up for a return visit for next year. We would highly recommend the Vee Bar to anyone who wants to have a great time on a ranch. The riding was great, the food was amazing, and the staff was unbelievable. It is a must visit.
