Weekend Family Horse Camp

Learn something new together, as a family, going into the holiday season! Be inspired together. Share time together. Make memories together.

Choose a one-day or two-day horse camp where your family will be immersed in all things horse! Time will be spent learning about horses—their general care, how horses communicate, parts of a horse, how to saddle a horse, how to lead a horse, and much more. Time will also be spent in the saddle where your family can learn to ride together. All of the lesson content will be adapted to what is of special interest to your family, and the content can be tailored to your family. Lessons will be given in the indoor arena at the Vee Bar Guest Ranch.

Day 1 Sample Schedule:
One-hour block—horse care, grooming, groundwork
30-minute break (bring a snack, bathroom break, warm up, visit other ranch animals, etc.)
One-hour block—mount up and ride—family riding lesson
Come to the lodge for hot cocoa and cider!

Day 2 Sample Schedule:
One-hour block—riding lesson indoor arena
30-minute break (bring a snack, bathroom break, warm up, visit other ranch animals, etc.)
One-hour block—Family ride outside (weather permitting) OR
Groundwork, driving a horse hooked to a cart

Cost: One-day (will follow Day 1 schedule only) $150 per family
Two-day (will follow Day 2 schedule) $250 per family

Dates Available: February 10-12, February 26th and later.  Inquire about other dates as well!

*IDEA: Make a weekend of it—spend a night in a cabin at the Vee Bar!  

Horseback Riding Lessons

Ranch Tours–Calving Season Operations

Calving season is just around the corner!  We will be offering ranch tours that will last roughly an hour.  Tours are given on foot and will be through calving corrals (wear boots that you don’t mind getting cow poop on).  Tours will be limited in size and it will work to your advantage to schedule a tour ahead of time.  Maybe you’ll see a cow giving birth, maybe you’ll learn about what it takes to nurture a newborn calf, or maybe you’ll simply see how the whole operation works.  In any case, we can’t plan around Mother Nature or the cows’ schedule so the tour content will be raw and real.  Guests on the tour should be prepared to see blood, a sick or injured animal, and other ranch happenings that you just can’t plan for!  Tours will be given by either our ranch foreman or owners and questions are welcome.  All ages are welcome, but children need to be accompanied by an adult.  Smaller children (think 5 and under) may need to be carried and will need to be kept from running around the animals.  Call the office to inquire and schedule your tour.

Kids Birthday Parties

We are no strangers to hosting a fun party!  Why not rent the indoor arena for your kids’ party?  Rent a horse for lead-around rides, play games in the sand, and use the tiled space to open presents and serve food/cake.  Different packages provide an array of fun–from dressing up a horse and riding horses to simply having a large space to run around and play games on foot.  Make it a barn birthday!
